NAGAON: Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Geography at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, organized a public talk titled ‘Climate, Environment, and People: An Interwoven Future’  to commemorate National Science Day (NSD) on Friday last here. The event was well-attended by university faculty, researchers, students, and staff.

The lecture took place in the university auditorium. Prof Santonu Goswami from Ajim Premji University, Bangaluru delivered a comprehensive presentation on the impact of climate change and strategies for addressing it. He highlighted the various ways in which climate change affects the environment and human lives.

Prof Goswami emphasized that global warming, caused by climate change, is leading to increased incidents of floods, droughts, and other natural disasters. He noted the adverse effects on food production, water supply, and human health. He stressed the importance of collective action to solve these problems and advocated for increased use of renewable energy, reduction of carbon emissions, and the adoption of environmentally friendly lifestyles.

The attendees praised Prof Goswami’s lecture, noting they gained valuable insights. The event was widely regarded as an effective initiative to raise awareness about climate change.

A workshop titled ‘Navigating India’s Climate Future,’ organized by the Department of Geography, was also held on the same date where Prof Santonu Goswami presented a discussion on the climate future of India.

At the conclusion of the event, university authorities expressed their gratitude to the organizers and Prof Goswami for their valuable contributions.
