GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, a man was found hanging from the ceiling of his room in Assam's Baksa district.

As per reports, the 30-year-old man committed suicide by dressing up like a groom.

The deceased has been identified as Tapan Deka, a resident of Jhargaon village under Tamulpur Police Station in Baksa.

As per media reports, the deceased after having dinner with his family on September 7th night went to his room. Meanwhile, the next morning his family smelt foul when the deceased did not come out of his room till 12:30 PM in the afternoon.

Upon enquiry, Tapan's family received no response from inside the room, however, one of his relatives looked inside through the window and found him hanging from the ceiling.

Tamulpur Police rushed to the scene and discovered the body of the 30-year old.

Later the body was taken for a post mortem examination before being handed over to the family to perform his last rites.

Locals believe that Tapan committed suicide due to mental depression as he was unemployed and lost his job due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

Earlier, a woman along with her three-year-old infant son allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a pond. The incident took place in the Bajali district of Assam.

The deceased woman, identified as Malabika Deka (30), reportedly committed suicide following an altercation with her husband over some family issues.

As per reports, the husband is a constable, ITBP posted in Uttarakhand. Later, after hearing the incident SDRF recovered the mother-son duo from the pond, located at Naginipar area under Sarupeta Police Out Post in the district.
