Assam: Man Trampled To Death By Wild Elephants in Nabil Near Demow

A man was killed by wild elephants in Nabil near Demow on Sunday evening when he was returning to his residence from Rajmai weekly bazaar.

DEMOW: A man was killed by wild elephants in Nabil near Demow on Sunday evening when he was returning to his residence from Rajmai weekly bazaar. The deceased has been identified as Haren Murari (50 years), a resident of Nabil Gaon. According to information received, Haren Murari went to the Rajmai Weekly Bazaar on Sunday and while returning to his residence on bicycle in the evening, met with the wild elephants in the field. The wild elephants attacked Haren Murari and he died.

A team of the Forest Department and a team of Demow Police reached the area and recovered the body. In Palengi, Saragua, Maharani, Pub Panidehing, and Pachim Panidehing areas of the Demow Constituency wild elephants often create panic and destroy the farmers’ agricultural lands, said a local.

The locals of that area appealed to the State Government to provide safeguard from the wild elephants.
