NUMALIGARH: In a bid to prevent accidents and reduce congestion, the administration in Marangi’s Porabangla launched an eviction drive to clear encroachments from the national highway and footpaths.

The drive, led by Marangi Revenue Circle Officer Rananmoy Bhardwaj, was carried out with the assistance of Numaligarh Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Over 50 illegal business establishments were demolished during the drive. The administration identified encroachments on the national highway and footpaths as a major cause of accidents and congestion in the area. The eviction drive was carried out following directions from the Golaghat District Administration. The locals welcomed the move, citing difficulties faced due to encroachments. The administration assured that similar drives will be conducted across Marangi mouza to evict illegal encroachers.
