Assam: Biswanath College of Education Organized Faculty Development Programme on Modern Teaching Trends

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A five-day long hybrid international Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Current Trends and Approaches in Teaching-Learning,’ organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Biswanath College of Education, was successfully conducted from February 5 to 10 fostering insightful discussions on modern teaching-learning approaches.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof Jogen Chandra Kalita, Patron, and Dr Dulumoni Goswami, adding depth and significance to the event. Dr Beauty Hazarika, Principal, delivered the welcome address while IQAC Coordinator Mayuri Boruah outlined the programme’s objectives. The event was also attended by Governing Body members Babul Borah and Pankaj Jyoti Bhuyan whose insights and encouragement enriched the discussions.

The FDP featured distinguished national and international resource persons, covering diverse themes including Learning Management Systems, Vocational Education and Entrepreneurship, Indian Knowledge System, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation, Infusing Problem and Project-Based Learning in Teaching as Envisioned in NEP, and Online and Blended Learning. A panel of distinguished scholars attended the programme as keynote speakers which included Prof Dulumoni Goswami, HOD, Department of Education, Gauhati University, Dr Rita Kakati Shah, CEO, UMA Global, New York, USA, Dr Alaka Das, HOD, Department of Education, Kumar  Bhaskar Varma, Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Prof Nil Ratan Roy, Professor, Department of Education, Tezpur University, Dr Deepak Waikar, Chairperson, IEEE Education Society, Singapore, and Dr Santanu Kalita, HOD i/c, Department of Computer Science, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva Vishwavidyalaya.

The FDP was mentored and supported by Prof Nilima Bhagabati, Chairman, CTEF Assam, Dr Sumin Prakash, Associate Professor, DEGSN, NCERT, Delhi, Dr Jogen Chandra Kalita, Professor, Department of Zoology, Gauhati University, and Dr Jayanta Kumar Sarmah, Additional Director, SCERT.

Anku Moni Kapil, Assistant Professor of the college, was felicitated on the occasion for receiving the prestigious CCRT Junior Fellowship in Sattriya Dance from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The FDP witnessed active participation, engaging discussions, and valuable takeaways for educators, contributing to their professional development.
