DIGBOI: Assam’s Cabinet Minister Bimal Borah inaugurated the newly-erected Digboi Development Block Office here at Borbil in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam.
Besides local MLA Suren Phukan, ADC Javeed Arman, Chairman, Assam State Housing Board Kaberi Gohain, the Digboi Development Block officer, many officials of the district administration and PRI members were also present during the ceremony.
Before the district’s bifurcation into co-districts in Assam, the single overloaded Hapjan Block Office had to monitor and supervise the development works for 16 panchayats, 8 panchayats each of Digboi and Doomdooma.
The setting up of the new administrative unit in Digboi, with 13 gram panchayats and one lakh voters including one municipal board, is expected to bring administrative ease and boost the pace of rural development in Digboi.
“I am confident that this new office will serve as a catalyst for accelerating the region’s development, streamlining governance, and facilitating the effective implementation of welfare initiatives,” wrote Cabinet Minister Borah on his X handle after the programme. “This modern facility is a significant step toward enhancing administrative efficiency and delivering seamless public services to the people of Digboi,” added the Minister.
According to Borah, administrative and territorial reforms brought about by the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam was the testimony of its dedication and fulfilment of people’s aspiration as envisaged over a period of time.
Meanwhile, the happiness among the beneficiaries under Tingrai Panchayat in particular was noteworthy as they believed that with the new office within their reach, the alleged irregularities and gross anomalies in implementation of government welfare schemes would be viewed seriously and impartially, speedily delivering justice to the deprived lot.
