Assam: Minister Pijush Hazarika inaugurates Khel Maharan 2.0 in Jagiroad

The 14th Khel Maharan, held at Neli Makaria ground in Jagiroad on December 13-14, provided a platform for rural sports talent. The event aimed to promote local athletes on a constituency basis.

JAGIROAD: The 14th Khel Maharan, organized by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of the state government, with the aim of giving a platform to sports talents in rural areas of the state, was held at Neli Makaria ground in Jagiroad on December 13 and 14 on constituency basis.

Various sports competitions were held over the two days of the Khel Maharan. The Khel Maharan 2.0 was inaugurated by the Minister of Water Resources, Information and Public Relations, Government of Assam, Pijush Hazarika on Friday by lighting the traditional flame.

Many players from 23 numbers of GP under Jagiroad Assembly constituency participated in various sports including boxing, football, volleyball, kabaddi, and cycling. The program was attended by Morigaon District Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar Das, Jagiroad Co-District Commissioner Biman Das, Morigaon District Additional Commissioner Sangeeta Barthakur, Morigaon District Sports Officer and Secretary Chandan Talukdar, District Physical Education Officer Seemanta Baishya, and others.
