Goalpara: In a shocking development in Goalpara town, miscreants replaced a National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) hoarding at the entrance of Bhalukdubi Civil Hospital with a movie poster. The poster is of an Assamese film titled ‘Bhaimon Da’ by Jil Creations, which is scheduled to be released on May 23.

The matter immediately caught the attention of the health department, which subsequently informed the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Khanindra Choudhury condemned the incident and directed that an FIR be filed against the miscreants involved.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Dr. Abdus Salam, the District TB Control Officer who first noticed the incident, said that the NTEP hoarding was part of the Prime Minister’s TB awareness programme in Assamese, aimed at helping people understand the seriousness of the disease.

According to sources, 963 TB patients in the district are currently undergoing free treatment in government hospitals.
