Assam: MLA Prodip Hazarika opens free textbook distribution ceremony in Sivasagar

GAURISAGAR: Amguri Elementary Education Block in Sivasagar organized a free textbook distribution ceremony for the new academic session 2025-26 on Wednesday at the auditorium of Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute (HSII) in association with Samagra Siksha Abhiyan, Sivasagar. On this occasion, an open session was held where Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika formally launched this programme. Addressing the gathering, Hazarika delved at length on various schemes launched by the Assam Government as well as the state education department for promotion, reforms, and upgradation of the education department.

The meeting was anchored by Atikur Rahman, CRCC of Rongpur SS, and was attended by Debajyoti Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar, Bipul Borkatoky, former principal, SMD College, Charing, Utpal Baruah, Deputy Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar Sub-Division, Rajib Dutta, senior journalist and Secretary, Gaurisagar Press Club, social worker Nitya Kalita, Bhuban Chandra Neog, Principal, Gaurisagar HSII, and Roman Dutta, Secretary, AASU, Gaurisagar Regional unit, as distinguished guests. Earlier, Parasor Saikia, BEEO, Amguri Elementary Education Block, welcomed the guests and the gathering.

In the meeting, MLA Hazarika distributed books for the new academic year among the teachers and students of No. 12 Namdang Primary School, No. 384 Mitong Nakatani Primary School, Gaurisagar MV School, and Gaurisagar HSII. The meeting also distributed FTB kits and appliances to divyang students. A total of 20,538 students including 10,247 primary school students, 6,079 secondary ME & MV school students, and 4,212 high schools students benefited from the free textbook distribution programme.
