SIVASAGAR: The Sivasagar Zilla Bartajivi Sangha will hold its annual conference on August 2 and 3, at the Sibsagar Press Club premises. The two-day event will feature a series of programmes including flag hoisting, smriti tarpan, a representatives' meet, and an open session.

A key highlight of the conference will be the presentation of the Guna Baruah Memorial State Journalism Award 2025 to veteran journalist Monirul Islam Bora in recognition of his decades-long contribution to journalism and social service. The award will be conferred during the open session scheduled for August 3.

The open session will be graced by the presence of several eminent figures including Axom Bartajivi Sangha's President Madhusudan Medhi, General Secretary Mukut Raj Sharma, Executive Member Bhaskar Sharma, and President of Sivasagar Zilla Xahitya Xabha Jogesh Kishor Phukan. Senior journalists Mofidul Islam and Pranjal Pujari will also be specially felicitated during the event.

Preparations for the upcoming conference were discussed in detail during a meeting of the executive committee of the Sivasagar Zilla Bartajivi Sangha, held at the Sibsagar Press Club. Acting President Ratu Kumar Das presided over the meeting, while General Secretary Manoj Kumar Gogoi outlined the objectives. Assistant Secretary Himanshu Neog, Treasurer Debajyoti Baruah, and senior members including Mofidul Islam and Pranjal Pujari shared their views and suggestions.
