SILCHAR: A dangerous head-on collision between an auto rickshaw and a loaded dumper left a mother-son duo dead on the spot. Three other members of the family as well as the driver of the auto rickshaw were rescued in serious conditions. The tragic incident happened today at noon near Ramnagar ISBT in Silchar. The deceased were identified as Afsana Begum and her seven-year-old son Tamim Ahmed. Afsana’s husband Neharul Haque, son Samim and daughter Tajmina Aktar, and Rakhal Das, the driver, were seriously injured. They were shifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital. An eyewitness said that the family was returning from Srikona when the auto rickshaw they were travelling in collided with the dumper loaded with soil. The driver of the dumper fled from the scene.
