Leader of the Assam Movement and a social activist from Tamulpur area, a resident of Darrangamela under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa, passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 69.

BAKSA: Leader of the Assam Movement and a social activist from Tamulpur area, a resident of Darrangamela under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa, passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 69. Ram Avatar Singhania had been suffering from heart ailment since the last few years. He was immediately admitted to Rangiya Polyclinic Hospital after he suddenly fell ill. He later died on the way to Guwahati for better treatment.

After receiving the news of Singhania's death, many admirers and people from different organizations arrived at the premises of Singhania's house at Darrangamela along the Indo-Bhutan Border and paid their last respects to the deceased. Singhania played an active role in the region during the six-year long Assam Movement. He was also former president of the Baksa District Xatra Mahasabha. He was associated with various institutions in the region till his death. His death was deeply mourned by the Darrangamela Market Association, former secretary of Nalbari district AASU, Hiranya Chaudhary, and other dignitaries.
