NAGAON: The District Development Office, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in Nagaon district organized a special plantation drive in the premises of College of Fisheries (CoF) on Thursday.
The event was attended by DDM, NABARD Rajendar Perna, Asst Commissioner Bidyashree Langthasa, and Dean of CoF Dr PC Bhuyan along with other faculty members, LDM Khurshid Ansari.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDM, NABARD Rajendar Perna informed the participants that as a part of observance of International Year of Cooperatives – 2025 (IYC-2025), the NABARD offices would be organizing the Cooperative Literacy Camps, events for Women SHGs/ JLGs/ Other User Groups to promote micro credit through cooperatives, events related to cooperation among cooperatives, promotional events on natural farming, organic farming, climate smart agriculture, solar villages, etc. through cooperatives, events for promotion of specialized cooperatives on pulses, oilseed, fruits, and vegetables, seed production, exports, plantation drive, etc.
“In order to kickstart these campaigns on Thursday, we are organizing a plantation drive ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ in the premises of CoF, Raha,” Perna added. During the event, saplings of different varieties of fruits like mango, litchi, apple ber, cherry, malta (sweet orange), guava and chiku (sapodilla), etc. were planted by the invited dignitaries as well as students.
He also administered the oath to all the participants regarding taking care of planted saplings as well as the entire nature, for the benefit and survival of the present as well as future generations.
