NAGAON: The ongoing internal conflict between the Nagaon District Medicine Traders Association for the past few days finally came to an end on Saturday here. The conflict took place on May 22 at an executive meeting at a roadside sophisticated restaurant-cum-dhaba located at Borghat bypass in Nagaon.

During the meeting, a section of members of the organization decided to remove the General Secretary of the association, Simanta Saikia, by moving a no-confidence motion against him. Following this development, a conflict between two groups of members of the organization came to the front over the issue.

Later, the issue was brought to the local MLA, Rupak Sarma, for mediation in resolving the conflict between both factions. The district unit of the Medicine Traders Association held an emergency meeting at Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon in the presence of MLA Rupak Sarma on Saturday.

During the meeting, the organization cancelled the earlier decision to remove Simanta Saikia and reinstated him as the General Secretary of the Nagaon District Medicine Traders Association.

The executive body of the organization also decided to hold the next general meeting of the association on July 22, in which the organization will form a new committee for next term in the presence of an observer appointed by MLA Rupak Sarma. Over 30 executive members were present in the meeting held on Saturday at Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon, stated a press note here.
