GUWAHATI: Around 100 religious institutions, Namghars, clubs, and libraries in the New and Old Jalukbari areas under the Jalukbari Legislative Assembly Constituency received financial assistance on May 27 for infrastructure development. The aid was distributed from the MLA Local Area Development Fund and the Assam Government’s contingency fund.
The financial assistance was granted to support the development and renovation of these community and religious institutions. The distribution ceremony was held at the Public Works Department auditorium in Amingaon, where the funds were officially handed over by Hemanta Choudhury, Special Duty Officer to the Chief Minister.
During the event, Choudhury urged all beneficiary organizations to maintain transparency and integrity in the use of funds. Also present were the chief minister’s personal assistant, Pranjit Deka; Suwalkuchi Zilla Parishad member Dhiraj Mahanta; and retired senior planning officer of Kamrup district, Kalichanda Sen.
It is noteworthy that since 2001, the current Chief Minister and local MLA, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been consistently allocating funds from the MLA LAD and the state government’s special grants to support development initiatives in the Jalukbari constituency.
