SIVASAGAR: The Department of Mathematics, Gargaon College, in collaboration with Nazira College and IQAC, Gargaon College celebrated National Mathematics Day in honour of the legendary Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan.

As part of the celebration, an online webinar coordinated by Sujata Goala, Assistant Professor Department of Mathematics, was organized. Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, noted academician and Principal of Gargaon College, who inaugurated the programme, spoke on the relevance of National Mathematics Day which is to increase awareness about the importance of Mathematics in day-to-day lives as well as to encourage young minds to study and pursue a career in Mathematics.

Dr Kabita Phukon, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Gargaon College delivered the welcome address. Prof Surajit Borkotoky, Dean of Student Affairs, Director of the Office of International Affairs and Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Dibrugarh University, was invited as the Resource Person.
