Assam: Nazira Marks Independence Day with Student Competitions

NAZIRA: The 79th Independence Day celebrations in Nazira were marked by a series of competitions organized by the Nazira co-district administration. These events, including a quiz competition, dictation and spelling competition, and a badminton tournament, brought together students from various schools and showcased their talents.

The quiz competition, held at Nazira College, saw the participation of over 60 students from classes IX to XII. The event was inaugurated by Kalyan Jyoti Hazarika, Commissioner of Nazira co-district, and judged by Debajit Sharma, Dibyajyoti Bora, and Deepankar Sharma. The quiz competition tested the students’ knowledge and understanding of various subjects, and the winners were awarded prizes.

The dictation and spelling competition, also held at Nazira College, was designed to promote linguistic skills among students. The competition was held in two categories, and the judges included Rashmi Rekha Khaund, Yogoada Mahanta, Julie Koch, and Mitali Goswami. Asomi Gogoi, Principal of Swaraj Academy, played a key role in conducting the competition smoothly.

The badminton tournament, organized at Rohiteshwar Saikia Indoor Stadium, Nazira, was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Arunabh Sonowal. The event was attended by Gopal Gogoi, general secretary of Nazira District Sports Association, Abdur Rahman, president of the association, and Gajendra Sharma, Professor of Nazira College. The tournament promoted sportsmanship and healthy competition among the participants.

These competitions reflected the administration’s commitment to providing opportunities for students to develop their talents and showcase their skills. By promoting patriotism, linguistic skills, and sportsmanship, the events aim to foster a sense of national pride and appreciation for the country’s rich cultural heritage. The competitions also provide a platform for students to interact with each other, build confidence, and develop their skills in a supportive environment.
