
NAGAON: Ankita Bora, a newly married woman, was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances at her husband's home in Nonoi Tulsimukh in Assam's Nagaon district on Tuesday morning. The local community was shocked and outraged when she displayed signs of injuries.
For about a year, Ankita, a resident of Kampur Dakshinpat Bhakatgaon village, was married to Bishwajit Das, an Assam Police Commando. According to her family, she was repeatedly assaulted physically and psychologically by her husband and his relatives.
The Nonoi police arrested Bishwajit in connection with the incident after the incident came to light. Bishwajit and his relatives are being questioned by the police as part of an ongoing inquiry. According to a case filed by Ankita's family, her in-laws are responsible for her passing. Police are waiting on the post-mortem report to learn about the cause of her death.
This tragic event has stirred widespread anger in the community, with many demanding justice for Ankita. The family seeks accountability for the abuse she endured, and authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the truth behind her death.
In a similar incident, The body of a 22-year-old woman was found in a river in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on January 13, four days after she went missing. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and are investigating the case.
One person has been detained. Locals and the victim’s family protested in front of Lahowal Police Station, demanding justice. The family claims the woman went missing on January 9, and her body showed signs of being raped and murdered. They also allege she was pregnant. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report for further details.
