MANGALDAI: The Nutrition Fortnight (Poshan Pakhwada) 2025 was ceremonially launched in Darrang district today. District Commissioner Parag Kr. Kakaty, in the presence of Additional District Commissioner (Women and Child Development) Ajit Kalita and representatives of various stakeholder government agencies, inaugurated the programme organized by the District Poshan Abhiyan under the Women and Child Development Department.

This year, the programme focuses on the first 1,000 days of life, a crucial period for optimal mental and physical development. It also emphasizes the popularization of the beneficiary module, community-based management of malnutrition, and promoting a healthy lifestyle to tackle childhood obesity.

In his inaugural address, District Commissioner Kakaty highlighted the importance of observing the fortnight to eradicate malnutrition among expectant mothers and children, thereby contributing to the development of a healthier and more productive future generation. He urged the staff of the Women and Child Development Department and other stakeholders to treat the initiative not merely as an official responsibility but as a service to the nation. Earlier, Parvez Mehdi Alam, Coordinator of the District Poshan Abhiyan, presented a detailed roadmap of the programme through a PowerPoint presentation. The initiative will continue until April 28.
