SIVASAGAR: Along with the rest of the state, Lok Kalyan Divas was observed with due solemnity in Sivasagar on Tuesday, commemorating the death anniversary of the revered Gopinath Bordoloi. A special programme was organized at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the Sivasagar District Commissioner’s office to mark the occasion.
During the programme, two employees of Sivasagar District Commissioner’s office selected for this year’s State Government’s Lok Kalyan Award were formally felicitated. They are Arabinda Gogoi, Stenographer, and Dombidhar Taye, Junior District Administrative Assistant.
District Commissioner Aayush Garg extended heartfelt congratulations to both awardees and encouraged them to continue serving with greater dedication. He also urged all officials present to perform their duties with sincerity and a strong sense of responsibility.
Both recipients also expressed their gratitude and shared their thoughts during the event.
The programme, anchored by Rumin Baruah, witnessed the presence of District Development Commissioner Samiran Bora, additional district commissioners Geetalee Dowarah, Meenakshi Parmey, and Gauri Priya Deuri, Election Officer Aditi Neog, assistant commissioners Nimashri Dauka and Parishmita Dehingia, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Makhan Kalita, along with several other officials and staff from various departments under the district administration.
Tezpur: Along with the rest of the state, the Sonitpur district administration observed Lok Kalyan Divas 2025 on Tuesday, commemorating the 75th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi, the first Chief Minister of Assam and the architect of modern Assam.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, MLA of Tezpur LAC Prithiraj Rava delivered an insightful address on the life and legacy of the great statesman. He highlighted Bordoloi’s unwavering patriotism, his pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of Assam, and how he led by example as a leader deeply loved by the people. In his welcome address, District Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das, underscored the significance of observing the day as Lok Kalyan Divas, urging all government employees to uphold the ideals of public service exemplified by Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi. Sharing personal anecdotes from his administrative career, he stressed that mere lip service is not enough—sincerity, respect for one’s work, and commitment are essential, as our work is a part of our identity.
Noted science writer and educationist Dr Ramesh Chandra Goswami, attending the event, emphasized the importance of honesty, sincerity, and hard work in public service, noting that such values not only improve governance but also serve as a source of inspiration to others.
The programme, held at Conference Hall-II of the District Commissioner’s Office, featured the presentation of the district-level Lok Sewa Puraskar 2025 to three exemplary employees of Sonitpur district. Rupak Hazarika, Room Bearer at the Office of the District Commissioner, Sonitpur, Tankeswar Ojha, Physical Instructor at the Office of the District Sports Officer, Sonitpur, and Bapdhan Das, Jarikarak at the Office of the Superintendent of Taxes (Recovery), Tezpur, were conferred the award in recognition of their dedicated service.
The event was attended by District Development Commissioner Lakhinandan Saharia, CEO of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad Karabi Saikia Karan, Additional District Commissioner Kabita Kakati Konwar, Chairperson of Tezpur Municipal Board Ramen Tamuli, along with heads of departments, officials, dignitaries, and staff of the Sonitpur district administration. BONGAIGAON: The Bongaigaon District Administration observed ‘Lok Kalyan Divas’ today at the Deputy Commissioner’s office conference hall. The event was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner Nirmali Baruah and attended by Circle Officer Mausam Pratim Nath, Assistant Commissioner Antu Bordoloi, departmental heads, and other staff. Retired administrative officer Rohini Kumar Choudhury was present as the chief guest. The program began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and floral tribute to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi.
In his speech, Choudhury emphasized Bordoloi’s legacy as Assam’s first Chief Minister, a freedom fighter, and a key figure in building major institutions like Gauhati University and Assam Medical College. Circle Officer Nath explained that the day also recognizes dedicated government employees through awards. Several officers shared their service experiences, and ADC Baruah encouraged all employees to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal well-being. The programme concluded with best wishes and words of appreciation for all present.

The welfare of people will become a reality if one is able to discern these." said Tinsukia District Commissioner (DC) Swapneel Paul while addressing a meeting held on the occasion of observance of Lok Kalyan Diwas held at the conference hall of DC's office on Tuesday.
The District Commissioner said that an Ayushman card is not only an card or a number. It kindles the hope and aspirations of the poor people to live. Besides doing day to day work in routine manner, one must give thoughts to these aspects in performing one's duty. 'There were many people in the society who inspired him in the workplace', he further said.
The meeting was also attended by Tinsukia MLA Sanjay Kishan. “We must always try to serve the people by being inspired by the ideals of the popular leader Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi. Then only we shall be able to develop our district and the state forward.”
