Assam Police Cracks Down on Bike Lifting Gangs, Arrests Multiple Notorious Thieves

GUWAHATI: In a significant operation, an East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Basistha PS acted on intel to bust a veteran gang of bike lifters from Ananda Nagar in Sixmile. The police personnel arrested the suspected individuals named Ajoy Singh (39), Dibbajyoti Saikia aka Babu (26), and Dipu Teron aka Malinga (28).

During the operation, the following tools were seized: one master key, four helmets, four mobile phones, and two bikes. Legal action has been further initiated against the arrested individuals.

In another similar incident, a joint team of Gorchuk Police Station and Hatigaon Police Station busted a bike lifting ring after arresting Jibon Bordoli, alias Jibon Das (33), of Lanka from Saukuchi in a bike lifting case last year in May.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Bhola Dey of Byrnihat, who acted as the middleman and took money from Misir Ali. Two other individuals, Bhinaram Basumatary of Ahomgaon, for providing his bike for the theft, and Raju Bhowmik, who assisted in the bike lifting, were also arrested.

Meanwhile, a team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) stationed at Basistha Police Station successfully apprehended a notorious car-lifting gang. Further, the police arrested three veteran members, identified as Sona Miya, 21, Taher Ali, 35, and Mahar Ali, 35, all hailing from Sarthebari.
