GUWAHATI: In a ceremony held at the Assam Police Institute, the Assam Police, led by Director General of Police (DGP) G.P. Singh, felicitated two distinguished personalities for their recent achievements.

Advocate General Devajit Saikia was honored for his appointment as Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), while Debraj Upadhyay, a former IPS officer, was recognized for being appointed Chairman of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

The event also marked a significant milestone for 17 officers who were formally inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS). These officers were ceremonially "pipped" in the presence of their family members and some other senior officers who attended the event.

Prominent attendees present at the occasion include Assam Police Director General of Police (DGP) Assam GP Singh (IPS), Special DGP (HQ) Harmeet Singh (IPS), Additional DGP CID MP Gupta (IPS), Retd. Special ADGP (SB) Hiren Nath (IPS), IG of Police (SB) Diganta Borah (IPS), Managing Director APHC Lachit Baruah (IPS), and Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta (IPS).

The newly promoted IPS officers include Jayshree Khersa, David Neitham, Mugdhajyo, Dev Mahanta, Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa, Gautam Borah, Ranjan Bhuyan, Pranabjyo Goswami, Amrit Bhuyan, Sudhakar Singh, Rajen Singh, Subodh Kumar Sonowal, Musleh Uddin Ahmed, Mihirjit Gayan, Harekrishna Nath, Manabendra Dev Ray, Longnit Terang, and Prasanta Saikia.
