Assam: Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary celebrated in Dhubri

DHUBRI: Bharat Vikas Parishad and the 11th and 12th Ward Rabindra Janma Jayanti Utsav Committee jointly celebrated the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore in Dhubri. Due to government restrictions amid the India-Pakistan war, the celebration was held in a simple way.

The celebration began with the offering of floral tributes at the portrait of Rabindranath Tagore by Prasenjit Roy, Akhil Bandhu Dutta, and Sanjib Kundu, along with members of both organizations. The programme included musical performances, dance, and recitation of Tagore’s literary works.

Songs were sung by Shakuntala Roy, Shukla Chakraborty, Papri Ghosh, Debdatta Guha, Anuja Saha, and Asim Bhattacharya while Papri Ghosh, Shukla Chakraborty, Debangana Roy, and Soumalya Paul performed dance numbers and Pradip Roy and Asim Bhattacharya delivered recitations.

In the children’s part of recitation, Niloyn Dey and Drishti Roy, accompanied by Maya Dey, delivered impressive recitations. While concluding the celebration,Sanjib Kundu promised to organize the Rabidra Janma Jayanti in grand way with various cultural programmes next year.
