Assam Rifles and Katigorah Police Seize Rs. 80,000 in Fake Currency in Silchar

Silchar: A joint operation by Assam Rifles’ Field Intelligence unit in Silchar and Katigorah Police had led to the recovery of a significant amount of fake currency notes. Cachar SP Nomal Mahatta said, acting on a tip-off, the operation was conducted in Katigorah market. During the raid, a smuggler named Sajib Uddin Majumdar was apprehended.

Sajib was traveling in a passenger autorickshaw when he was caught with the fake currency. A total of 160 counterfeit Rs. 500 notes, amounting to Rs. 80,000, were recovered from his possession. Along with the fake currency, two mobile handsets and some incriminating documents were also seized.

According to police sources, Sajib hails from Ganirgram, Fourth Block, in Cachar. He had reportedly been involved in various illegal activities for a long time. The operation was conducted based on information provided by the Field Intelligence Group of Assam Rifles in Silchar.
