Assam: Sivasagar Unveils New Clock Tower as Town Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Pride

SIVASAGAR: In the heart of Sivasagar town, at Muktinath Chariali, the new Clock Tower has been officially inaugurated on the eve of the 79th Independence Day. The project, undertaken by the Sibsagar Municipal Board, was completed at a cost of over ₹30 lakh.

Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aayush Garg officially inaugurated the tower in the presence of Municipal Board Chairperson Mrinali Konwar, Vice Chairperson Sanjiv Borah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gitali Duwara, and other ward commissioners. Residents expressed their excitement at the addition of the Clock Tower, calling it a proud new landmark for the historic town.

Meanwhile, Sivasagar joined the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at the Boarding Playground on Friday, August 15. The event was organised by the district administration, where Finance Minister Ajanta Neog hoisted the National Flag. She paid homage to the martyrs at the flag-hoisting venue.

In her address, Minister Neog highlighted the developmental schemes and initiatives implemented by the government. She also presented a report on the progress of various welfare projects. Following the speech, she received the salute of the march-past contingents.

Similarly, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma honoured the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters and conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the citizens for Independence Day 2025.

Additionally, CM Sarma expresses his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all his efforts in giving thrust to development efforts in Assam and lists down a host of projects which have been made possible by the Prime Minister.
