TEZPUR: Acting on credible intelligence inputs, a dedicated team of Sonitpur Police arrested two individuals involved in the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN). The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh Das (42 years), resident of Forest Gate Village, Lokhra, House No - 60 under Dispur PS in Kamrup (M) District and Keshav Saraniya (33 years) resident of Dakshin Bogoribari, Boithabari under Barbari PS in Baksa district.
During the operation, the police recovered high-quality counterfeit currency amounting to Rs 1,21,200. The seized fake currency notes consisted of 202 notes of Rs 500 denomination and 101 notes of Rs 200 denomination. In addition to the seizure of the counterfeit currency, the police also impounded the vehicle used by the accused, a car bearing registration number ML05M0011. The arrested individuals are currently undergoing intensive interrogation, and further investigations are being carried out to uncover their network and identify any potential links to organized crime syndicates involved in the circulation of fake currency.
