HAFLONG: Step by Step School, a premier educational institution in Mahur, celebrated its silver jubilee with great enthusiasm on Monday. The milestone marked 25 years of academic excellence and commitment to quality education. To commemorate the occasion, students took out a spectacular rally, dressed in their traditional attire of several ethnic groups, showcasing the diverse culture of the region. The rally began from the school premises, wound its way through the streets of Mahur, and concluded back at the school.

Sheila Lyndoh, Principal and Founder of the school, shared her vision and journey with the media. “In 2000, we started with just 26 students and gradually upgraded our infrastructure and expanded our enrollment. Today, we have over 590 students from nursery to class X.” Lyndoh highlighted the school’s achievements, including its first batch of HSLC students in 2008. “Over 400 students have passed out from our school, and we’re proud of their accomplishments,” she said.

When asked about the challenges she faced, Lyndoh mentioned the criticism she received for choosing English as the medium of instruction. “I believed that English, being a globally spoken language, would equip our students with the skills and confidence to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.” The silver jubilee celebration was a testament to Step by Step School’s commitment to providing quality education and empowering students to achieve their full potential.
