NAGAON: The Assamese weekly ‘Amar Aditi’ has been honouring outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to various fields in society. This year, three distinguished personalities were awarded the Aditi Sanman 2025.
The recipients of the award were Swapnanil Deka, Superintendent of Police, Nagaon, Siraj Uddin Ahmed, founder and Chief Advisor of Gram Vikas Parishad, Nagaon, a five-time national awardee and noted scribe and editor of a daily newspaper from Guwahati Anil Barman. The awards were presented to the recipients at their workplaces by the Amar Aditi family. All three awardees expressed their gratitude and wished the weekly newspaper continued success.
Siraj Uddin Ahmed, noted social worker, emphasized the importance of timely recognition, stating that awards and honours should be given earlier in life to provide motivation and encouragement while Anil Barman highlighted the need for newspapers to focus on promoting language, literature, and culture, in addition to news dissemination. He also noted the decline in newspaper readership and the challenges faced by the industry, emphasizing the importance of catering to readers’ tastes.
The award ceremony was attended by the Chief Editor, Editor, and sub editors of Amar Aditi, as well as senior scribe Kanak Hazarika from Nagaon.
