TANGLA: In a commendable display of proactive leadership the newly-appointed chairman of the Tangla Municipal Board, Kamal Choudhury, has taken the initiative to carry out urgent repairs on the dilapidated Mangaldoi-Bhutiachang road, a key stretch of Tangla town from Auxilum Convent School to Tangla Municipal Board office in Udalguri district on Saturday.

The road, which had developed numerous potholes over recent months was causing significant inconvenience to daily commuters and school students posed a threat to road safety as several road accidents were reported in the stretch. Without waiting for long bureaucratic delays, the chairman launched a quick-fix operation to fill the potholes and restore smoother vehicular movement. The public has praised the repair work, which started throughout the day and was coordinated with local excavators and municipal staff.

“This road is the lifeline for many of us, especially for those commuting  for work, school, or official visits. We thank the chairman for responding to the concerns of the people and taking prompt action,” said local resident Basanta Hazarika. TMB chairman Kamal Choudhury, speaking to the media, said, “The welfare of the people is our top priority. While full-scale road development is a longer process, temporary repairs were essential to ease public suffering.”
