Assam: Two-Day Nature Camp Held In Karbi Anglong To Promote Environmental Conservation

The Tourism NGO of Karbi Anglong, Jakve Asong, organized a two-day nature camp under the EEP for school children at Bio-Diversity cum Recreation Park on March 28 and 29.

DIPHU: The Tourism NGO of Karbi Anglong, Jakve Asong, organized a two-day nature camp under the Environment Education Programme (EEP) for school children at Bio-Diversity cum Recreation Park on March 28 and 29.

The program is supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Govt. of India, and implemented by the Assam Science Technology & Environment Council of the Science, Technology, and Climate Change department, Govt. of Assam. The purpose of organizing the camp was to demonstrate how to co-exist with nature.

The Assam Science Technology & Environment Council of the Science, Technology, and Climate Change department of the Government of Assam is in charge of carrying out the initiative, which is backed by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change of the Government of India. The camp was organized to teach people how to be in harmony with nature.

The resource person, Charne Beypi, assistant English teacher of BM Shri Chandrasing Teron High School, spoke to the children about biodiversity and its conservation in the technical session. She explained to the children the various species of plants, animals, and birds that are found. But due to environmental changes, several species of birds, animals, and plants are going extinct, Beypi noted.

The two-day camp benefited more than 100 students from various schools in Diphu town.
