SIVASAGAR: The Jhumoir Binandini programme, an ambitious initiative under the Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Assam, has been successfully launched in Sivasagar district. The programme aims to celebrate, preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Assam through the traditional Jhumoir dance and related cultural practices.

According to sources from the district administration, the inaugural training sessions of this unique cultural initiative began on Monday, across three venues: Mackypore Field in Nazira constituency, Kaliapani Field in Demow constituency and Borbam Field in Amguri constituency. These training sessions are part of a larger event that will continue till Thursday, spreading cultural vibrancy throughout the district.

The programme highlights the significance of Jhumoir, a traditional dance form of Assam, which holds deep roots in the region’s cultural identity. It brings together participants from various backgrounds to engage in and learn this cherished art form, fostering a sense of community and pride in Assamese traditions. Sivasagar, renowned for its historical and cultural legacy, provides a fitting backdrop for this initiative, further enhancing its importance in promoting Assamese heritage.
