LAKHIMPUR: The programme for giving away the Dimbeswar Kanwar Memorial Academic Award was organized in Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district on Saturday. The programme was held in the auditorium of Dhakuakhana Higher Secondary School.

The academic award has been conferred in the fond memory of Dimbeswar Kanwar, an Education Officer of the State Government, since 2020 to the meritorious students who bags the highest mark in English subject from Dhakuakhana in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination. This year, the award has been grabbed by Niranjan Gogoi, living at Dighala Gaon under the subdivision.

In the programme, Niranjan Gogoi was accorded warm felicitation with phulam gamosa, while conferring the award with a citation, a cheque of Rs. 7000, bundle of books. Notably, Dimbeswar Kanwar was an alumnus and former teacher of Dhakuakhana HS School, who later joined in the Education Department as Deputy Inspector and retired.

The programme commenced with writer Dimbeswar Gogoi, the former vice principal of Dhakuakhana College, in the chair. Academician Sarbeswar Sut Baruah threw light into the life and inspiring works of Dimbeswar Kanwar in the programme wherein Dimbeswar Kanwar's daughters Anju Kanwar Mazumdar, Mamoni Konwar, son Bikash Kanwar, Dhakuakhana HS School former principal Likhan Chandra Borgohain, academician Cheniram Baruah were present.
