GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat district committee of Assam State Journalists’ Association organized an awareness programme on ‘Impact of Mental Health on Academic Performance’ at Golaghat Reliance Senior Secondary School recently. The programme aimed to sensitize students about the importance of mental health in achieving academic excellence.

Attending the programme, Dr Dipak Dutta, a Psychiatrist, emphasized the need to address mental health issues and seek help when needed. Dr Lukmoni Goswami, a retired Vice-Principal, highlighted the role of parents as the best friends in a child’s life. Dr Ranjit Hazarika, a Senior Doctor, warned about the negative impact of social media on mental health and advised responsible usage.

The district committee of the journalist association felicitated Hema Choudhury Gogoi, an entrepreneur who has empowered women through her weaving business. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Pallabi Kaid, Executive Member of the Golaghat district committee. The committee plans to hold similar programmes in 14 high schools and colleges in the district to promote awareness about mental health and academic performance.
