JAMUGURIHAT: The Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) launched a special translation project under the initiative of the Publication Sub-committee, aimed at translating the best critical essays that have significantly influenced modern thought and consciousness. Although some foreign stories, novels, and poems have been translated into Assamese, notable translations of the world’s finest critical essays are yet to be seen.

At the initial stage of this project, several professors and research scholars from universities and colleges of the state have taken up the responsibility as translators. The project is being planned and coordinated under the leadership of Professor Madan Sarma, Professor Bibhash Choudhury (Gauhati University), Professor Jyotirmoy Pradhani (North-Eastern Hill University), Professor Hemjyoti Medhi (Tezpur University), Professor Mridul Bordoloi (Dibrugarh University), and Professor Arindam Sharma. 

The project was officially inaugurated on Friday. The editorial team of the project includes Professor Madan Sarma and Professor Bibhash Choudhury as Chief Editors, Arindam Borkotoky, Convener and Editor, Professor Hemjyoti Medhi (Tezpur University), Professor Mridul Bordoloi (Dibrugarh University), Professor Jyotirmoy Pradhani (NEHU), and Professor Arindam Sharma (Chaiduar College) as the members of the editorial team, Principal Secretary of AXX Debajit Bora stated in a press release.

Principal Secretary Bora further said that it was expected that the translators would carry out the responsibilities of the translation project smoothly within the period.
