AXX’s Tea Community Language-Literature Development sub-committee meet held

GOLAGHAT: The first executive meeting of the Tea Community Language-Literature and Culture Development sub-committee of the national organization Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) for the year 2025-27 was held on Friday.

In the meeting held at the central office of AXX, Chandrakanta Bhawan, under the chairmanship of Dr Basanta Kumar Goswami, President of AXX and Chairman of the sub-committee, Convener Diganta Kumar Bhuyan presented a detailed plan and programme and handed it over to the Chairman. After extensive discussions on various aspects in the meeting, several important proposals were adopted along with the adoption of the programme.

The decisions include forming branches of AXX in every tea garden of the state to attract the new generation towards Assamese language-literature and culture, conducting educational-social coordination journeys led by the President of AXX in Tea Community-dominated areas, organizing workshops on Sattriya dance, Borgeet, folk songs etc. of Assamese culture among tea community students and youth in tea garden areas, conducting training workshops in collaboration with the Cultural Directorate of the Assam Government among non-tea community youth, women, and students for cultural exchange, publication of tea community lexicons, and launching of a website and awareness campaigns in tea garden areas under the initiative of AXX.

In September, a Karam Convention, special felicitation, and award ceremony will be held at the Bardhan tea garden regional branch of AXX under the initiative of the Tea Community Language-Literature and Culture development sub-committee in the Borjan-Dakshinhengera tea garden of Golaghat district.

Similarly, the central event of AXX, ‘Tea Community State Festival,’ will be held in collaboration with the Golaghat district committee and Paschim Golaghat branch of AXX at the venue of the Golaghat Book Fair and Literary Festival-2025 to be held from October 22 to October 29.
