SILCHAR: A BSF jawan and two civilians sustained serious injuries as a group of Bangladeshi goons attacked them with sharp weapons. The sensational incident happened on Thursday night at Kinno Khal on the Indo-Bangladesh border at Katigorah. Local sources said that the rifle of the BSF jawan was also damaged in the incident. The injured civilians were identified as Pabitra Mohan Das (65 years) and Nishit Ranjan Deb (55 years). Along with the BSF jawan, the two civilians, both local farmers, received treatment at Katigorah health centre.
Some repairing works were being done at the Kinno Khal border outpost of the BSF. On Thursday evening, two Bangladeshi thieves sneaked into the Indian side through the land border and tried to steal construction materials. Noticing them, two BSF jawans chased them. Pabitra Mohan and Nishit Ranjan were wrapping up their work in their paddy fields at that time. They too joined the jawans and tried to chase away the Bangladeshi miscreants. When they were about to enter into their own territory, a group of Bangladeshi goons armed with lathis and spades attacked the jawans and the civilians. One of the jawans sustained serious injuries on his hand as he was hit with a spade. Though no statement was received from the BSF, the Katigorah police confirmed the incident.
