PALASBARI: The five-day-long Chandubi festival, which aims to promote the bio-diversity and ecology of South Kamrup in Assam, concluded today.
Assam Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Das attended the Chadubi Festival-2025 held at Rajapara in Kamrup district from January 1 and discussed various measures to be taken for the development of eco-tourism in Chandubi and its surrounding areas on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Minister Das said that he would take necessary measures to redecorate Chandubi Lake and make it one of the tourist attractions. The Minister also visited the Chandubi Lake and took stock of its ecosystem. “The department will provide Rs 50,000 annually to hold the Chandubi festival from this year.I will hold special discussions with the Forest Minister and Water Resources Minister for scientific studies on the water of Chandubi Lake and Kalahi River,” the minister further added.
The event was attended by Palasbari MLA Hemanga Thakuria, BJP leader and prominent social worker Himanshu Shekhar Baishya, Chandubi Tourism Officer Neelima Khatun, and other dignitaries. It may be stated here that this time, thousands of tourists from all over the state, some from other states and even a few foreigners visited the festival. They enjoyed the traditional performances and tried the ethnic cuisines.
A huge number of visitors also took the boat ride on the serene Chandubi Lake during the Chandubi Festival. Prayers to the deity, believed to be one of the forms of Lord Shiva, are an important part of the festival.
