JAMUGURIHAT: Children's Day was celebrated in various parts of the greater Jamugurihat area on Monday to commemorate the birthday anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru along with the rest of the country. Educational institutions including Jamuguri HSS, Dekorai HSS, Tupiya Panchgaon Academy, North Jamuguri HSS, Panpur HSS, Nagsankar High School, Dakhin Nagsankar High School observed the special day with various activities. Holy Child English School observed the day in connection with Annual School Say with a day-long activities. Similarly, ST Thomas English School, Dhalaibil also observed the day with various cultural activities. Sootea ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) had organized the centralized programme at Natya Bhawan, Sootea comprising all the Anganwadi Centers that come under it. A spectacular cultural procession was taken out in this connection. Various competitions were organised among the kids who participated from various Anganwadi Centers. The centralized programme of Sootea ended with prize distribution ceremony. Officials from the Social Welfare Department, ICDS and dignitaries attended the event.

DEMOW: Children's Day was celebrated in every school of Demow and its surrounding areas on Monday. The programme started with the ceremonial lamp lit before the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on Monday. On the occasion, teachers spoke about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and encouraged the students to follow his foot steps. Different cultural programmes were organized among students.

MORIGAON: Sarvodaya Foundation in collaboration with Nehru Yuba Kendra (NYK),Morigaon celebrated Children's Day with fanfare at the the premises of Sorvodaya Public school on Monday. The daylong celebration of the children started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the Accountant of NYK Dhanajoy Talukdar at the portrait of the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was followed by a cultural programme. The students of the Sarvodaya Public school performed songs and dances in the programme. Earlier the principal of Sarvodaya Public school Lipika Bora felicitated the invited guests in the programme.

NAGAON: Along with rest of the nation, various educational institutions of the district observed Children Day with different programmes at their respective institutions on Monday. Leading educational institutions such as Christjyoti School, Nagaon, Nagaon Mission Secondary School, National Academy, Nagaon observed the day .

The programme was initiated with offering of floral tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru by the institutional heads of those educational institutions. During the day, each of these educational institutions also organized cultural programme among the children to make people aware of the rights of children, their welfare and right to their education.

National Academy, Nagaon observed the day with a slew of cultural events. Shamima Yasmin, principal of the institution initiated the programme with a brief elaboration on the importance of celebration of Children's Day, saying as a child is an asset to the nation so everyone should take care of his or her ward's rights, welfare and the education.
