NAZIRA: A tense situation erupted in Sonari town, the headquarters of Charaideo district, on August 6 after a few members of the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad Assam (TAYPA) allegedly clashed with a suspected Miya family.
The incident occurred when TAYPA members visited the residence of the suspected individual, a resident of Haji Habibur Rahman path in Ward No. 4 of Sonari town, to inquire about land transactions. The situation escalated when the suspected individual and women allegedly attacked the TAYPA members with a dao (knife).
The incident sparked strong reactions in Sonari, with many demanding action against the accused. The TAYPA has given an ultimatum to the suspected individuals to leave Charaideo within two days. The situation remains tense, and the authorities are yet to take any concrete action. The incident has raised concerns about law and order in the area and the safety of residents.
