KHERONI: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s flagship initiative, Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni 2.0 (2025–26), aimed at empowering girl students to pursue secondary and higher education, has received enthusiastic participation across Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts. The scheme’s application form distribution was ceremonially launched by the Chief Minister in Guwahati, with the event live telecast across the state.
In Karbi Anglong, the District Administration organized a live screening of the launch at the Sarsing Teron Langkung Habe Multi-Purpose Sports Complex (near KASA Stadium), Diphu. The event was graced by Tuliram Ronghang, chief executive member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), along with MLAs Dorsing Ronghang (Howraghat) and Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu), Ratan Teron, Chairman of Assam Hills Small Industries Development Corporation (AHSIDC) Ltd., Raju Tisso, Chairman, Avijit Kro, Deputy Chairman, several KAAC executive members, MACs, District Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi, and senior officials from various departments.
According to consolidated data, 2,501 eligible girl students from 23 schools in Karbi Anglong have been identified for the 2025–26 academic session under the scheme. This includes 1,119 students from Class XI and 1,382 from Class XII. At the higher education level, 1,683 girl students from 11 government and provincialized colleges are eligible, with 1,021 from the first year and 662 from the second year of undergraduate and teacher education programmes. In West Karbi Anglong, 633 girl students from 10 schools are eligible, comprising 297 from Class XI and 336 from Class XII. In a separate event on Wednesday, a ceremonial distribution of appointment letters to 338 candidates for Karbi Language Teachers (KLTs) and Medium Teachers (KMTs) under the Karbi Language Development Board took place at the Sarsing Teron Langkung Habe Memorial Town Hall in Diphu, further highlighting the region’s commitment to educational development.
