NALBARI: Public concern is steadily growing in Nalbari town over alleged encroachment of footpaths, improper vehicle parking, poor civic management, and lack of monitoring of food safety standards in hotels and markets. Conscious citizens and pedestrians have urged the district administration, Nalbari Municipality, and other concerned departments to take immediate corrective measures to restore public convenience and ensure hygienic conditions in the town.
One of the major issues raised by residents relates to the alleged occupation of the footpath in front of the State Bank of India branch located opposite Nalbari police station. According to local residents, bank officials and employees have reportedly been parking four-wheelers on the footpath for a long period, making it difficult for pedestrians to move freely and safely.
The situation has reportedly become more problematic because the bank and the police station are located face-to-face on a busy road, resulting in congestion and difficulty for commuters and pedestrians alike. Residents further stated that several accident-hit and seized vehicles kept for long durations in front of the police station have narrowed the road space and created traffic hazards.
Another major grievance concerns roadside shops allegedly displaying goods on footpaths, leaving little or no space for pedestrians.
