KHERONI: The West Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (WKA-DCC) organized a significant convention at Donkamokam, West Karbi Anglong, on Saturday, bringing together block and Mandal-level office bearers to strengthen the party’s grassroots network ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly election. The event, led by Augustine Enghee, President of WKA-DCC, saw the participation of prominent leaders, including Manoj Chauhan, Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Co-In-Charge of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Ashok Teron, General Secretary of APCC and In-Charge of WKA-DCC, Mahesh Chauhan, former Deputy Chairman of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), and other senior party figures.

The convention focused on bolstering the Congress party’s organizational structure at the grassroots level to ensure a robust campaign for the upcoming elections. Discussions centered on strategies to enhance party unity and mobilize support across West Karbi Anglong.

During the event, Manoj Chauhan issued a stern warning against potential voter list manipulation in Assam, drawing parallels with alleged irregularities in Bihar. Addressing the gathering, he reiterated explosive claims made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of colluding with the Election Commission to engage in vote theft during elections nationwide. Chauhan alleged that in Bihar, the BJP not only inflated its vote share but also systematically removed names of voters supporting the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Leftist parties from electoral rolls. He accused the BJP and the Election Commission of orchestrating such manipulations to undermine democratic processes.

Chauhan cautioned that the BJP might attempt similar tactics in Assam through a special and extensive voter list revision process. He vowed that the Congress would fiercely resist any efforts to delete names from voter lists, declaring, “We will not allow such attempts to succeed in Assam under any circumstances.” The convention concluded with a renewed resolve among Congress leaders to strengthen their organizational base and counter any attempts to undermine the democratic rights of voters in Assam as the 2026 election approaches.
