BIHPURIA: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora, during his address to the public at the Bihpuria Jatiya Aikya convention, intensely berated the Congress-AIUDF alliance.

During his address, the minister said, "Badruddin Ajmal himself publically stated that he will be funding for the formation of new regional parties in the State. It is now proven that Ajmal fever has started to spread into many regional parties. People of Assam can now clearly see that all the newly-formed parties are under the leadership of the Congress-Ajmal alliance. These parties cannot gain the trust of Assamese people just by doing protests for a few days."

The AGP had organized the Jatiya Aikya Sonmilan on Monday at Madhabdev Collegiate Higher Secondary School, Bihpuria constituency. The State Agriculture Minister and AGP president, while attending the convention, also took a dig at the newly-formed political parties in Assam.

He said, "The Congress party has become restless after losing power in Assam, the party has lost its peace of mind." He added that the dream of the Congress and Badruddin Ajmal to remove the BJP-AGP alliance from power in Dispur would never be fulfilled.

Bora further said that Bihpuria was once considered a stronghold for the AGP and the party had won the legislative elections twice from here. He also said that the AGP firmly believed in nationalism and that the AGP was not formed in one day, unlike the newly-formed parties. "The AGP party was formed by the blessings of the Assamese people as a protest against the decimation of the Congress government in Assam. So it is impossible to curb the love of the Assamese people for the AGP party. The Congress-AIUDF alliance can never shatter the strong roots of the AGP in Assam," said Bora. He added, "Our party has been and will always work for the betterment of the people of Assam, irrespective of the caste, creed, religion."

Claiming that the present alliance government in Dispur had gifted good governance to the people, Atul Bora reiterated that the unimaginable reform of the APSC was just a small example of this. Merit has now become the only criterion in APS, he added.

The executive president of the party and State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the unprecedented love shown by all sections of the people towards the AGP, from Sadiya to Dhubri, Brahmaputra to Barak Valley, had strengthened the party's base. He added that the AGP-BJP alliance would again form government in Dispur in the next assembly election. Former MLA of Bihpuria constituency, Keshram Bora and other AGP leaders were present in the meeting.
