LAKHIMPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is campaigning at Bihpuria in Assam Lakhimpur District today alleged that the Congress-led alliance is nothing but a "Maha jhoot" (big lie), not "Mahajot" (Grand Alliance).

Slamming the Congress for joining hands with Badarudding Ajmal's All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), he said that the party can do anything to get votes and now their aim is to destroy the identity of the state.

He further alleged that Congress wants to seize power in Assam on the vote bank of the party which has thrived on infiltration itself.

In line with the five guarantees that Congress has mentioned in its manifesto, PM Modi claimed that the alliance only guaranteed infiltration and corruption.

"A 'Mahajhoot' that guarantees illegal immigrations in 'Satras', 'Namghar', 'National Parks, which guarantees poaching & corruption. It is a Mahajhoot, who for their own sake, can blame Assam's pride & even tea in the whole world," said Modi.

Taking a potshot at the Congress, the PM said that in 70 years, only 13,000 kms of roads were constructed in Assam. However, in the last five years, the BJP government has built nearly 15,000 km of rural roads. Out of which, 700 km of new roads have been built only in Lakhimpur.

While talking about the BJP government both in the Centre and the State, Modi stated, "the double engine govt of NDA, is committed to take Assam to greater heights to progress."

Mentioning about the famous Bao Dhan (Red Rice), the PM asserted, "Lakhimpur is famous for Bao Dhan (Red Rice). Under Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, we are working to take this rice to the world."

PM Modi claimed that the Satras and Namghars of Assam, that were captured by illegal immigrants during Congress rule are now free from encroachments. He also announced the construction work of Sri Sri Madhavdev Kalakshetra & Sri Madhavdev University is on the process.

He further informed that steps have also been taken to include Sivasagar among the 5 iconic heritage sites of the country.

Speaking about the tea community the PM asserted that Congress has never managed to raise the daily wage of the workers whereas the NDA government has doubled it in five years. He also said that the NDA government will leave no stone unturned to develop the state once voted to power.

"Congress couldn't even increase tea workers' wages to ₹100. While NDA in five years increased their wages by two times. The same Congress is now spreading lies. Soon after we form govt, decisions will be implemented to make tea workers' lives better," he said.
