COVID-19: 104 New Cases Reported in Guwahati

Out of the total 195 cases detected from across Assam, 104 have been from the district of Kamrup (M), the highest in the state.

GUWAHATI: As per the report of National Health Mission (NHM), Health and Family Welfare, Government of Assam, Assam had recorded 195 new cases across the state out of which 104 had been detected from the district of Kamrup (M), as of 7th of April 2021. This metropolitan district of Assam has shown a sudden unexpected and steep rise in the cases which is very alarming, to say the least. 

In view of the current coronavirus pandemic, the Assam Community Surveillance program has been launched across the state, where health workers will visit the houses of the people in order to identify symptoms like minor flu-like cases. The people of Assam should be cooperative with the frontline health care workers who will visit homes by providing them with the necessary health-specific details. The vaccination drive is still effectively underway and new cases are getting detected. 

New COVID-19 care centres are opening up for catering to coronavirus-affected patients. A premier physical education institute in Sonapur, The Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education has been the latest campus to have been declared as a containment zone. 

Due to the mass hysteria caused by the outbreak of Covid-19 and the steep rise in the numbers of cases on day to day basis, New Zealand has closed the entry for Indian Citizens inside the country. 

In grave times such as this, our dire responsibility to collectively fight against the spread of the deadly disease. The Covid 19 rules and regulations have to be followed strictly. Masks should be worn in public spheres at all costs, hands must be washed and sanitized, and public unnecessary gatherings should be avoided as much as possible. We must cooperate with our frontline healthcare workers who have been relentless in the struggle against spreading the outbreak of this deadly disease.
