KOKRAJHAR: The Department of Cinema and Theatre, government of BTR, in collaboration with the cultural troupes of BTC region, organized the culmination programme of a 20-day workshop on theatre at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar today. The 20-day workshop was held in every district of BTC from December 11 to 30.
As many as 8 theatre groups of BTR including Gahpur of Sonitpur district participated in the culmination programme. The eight theatre groups performed in the stage plays which include “Saogari Angni Sanbwlaorini”, directed by Sansuma Boro of Gahpur, Sonitpur “Politics 1.0”, directed by Thandwi Raja Boro of Udalguri, “Birgwshree”, directed by Benudhar Patoary of Chirang, “Ami Kaun?”, directed by Jitu Rabha of Kokrajhar, “ Aina”, directed by Rupjyoti Mahanta of Tipkai, Kokrajhar, “Aijw”, directed by Puthuram Daimary of Mushalpur, Baksa, “Gabda Daina”, directed by Pabitra Mashahary of Dotma, Kokrajhar, and “On a Plannet”, directed by Dhiraj Boro of Tamulpur.
The joint Secretary and CHD of Cultural Affairs and Cinema and Theatre, BTC Pami Brahma inaugurated the culmination programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In her speech, she said that the present Chief of BTR Pramod Boro had been giving priority for theatre and cinema and its development. She said that the department of Culture in BTC lacked sufficient officers and power and therefore, they have to work with the challenge of shortage of officers and staff. She also said that the concerned department had a vision to bring a drama institution to BTC. She called upon the artistes and performers to dedicate themselves so that they reach national level competitions with their talents. She hoped the artists will do hard work for their achievements.
Secretary of Lwrgi Theatre Group and Coordinator of culmination programme Sanjib Kr Brahma said that the 20-days workshop had been being organized in every district of BTC since the past twenty years to develop the theatrical activities. He said that many artists of the region had achieved success at various positions in the national level. He also said that 50 Bodo Bagurumbha dancers of Bodoland Cultural Centre, Ramfalbil, led by Barlangfa Narzary have left for New Delhi to perform in the Republic Day celebration while another 25 Bagurumbha dancers of Lwrgi Theatre Group of Kokrajhar led by Sanjib Kr Brahma will leave for Chennai to perform Bagurumbha dance in Republic Day celebration in Tamil Nadu. They will then leave for Kerala from Chennai to perform in another national level programme.
On the occasion, certificates to cultural troupes who participated in 20-days workshop were also distributed by the Joint Secretary of Cultural Affairs, Cinema and Theatre department of BTC Pami Brahma.
