GORESWAR: The followers of Islam were seen celebrating Eid-Uz-Zuha (Bakrid) in a disciplined and unique manner in Tamulpur district this year.
Sources said that a meeting was held on June 6 at the office of the District Commissioner of Tamulpur under the leadership of District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, along with the Superintendent of Police Diganta Kumar Choudhury, and several senior district officials. In this meeting, presidents and secretaries of all mosques in the district were urged to celebrate Eid-Uz-Zuha in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
In response, during prayer time at every mosque on Saturday, mosque leaders made public announcements urging Muslim devotees to ensure that no individual or youth violates the law in the name of Eid-Uz-Zuha celebration. It was specially requested that no one rides motorcycles without wearing helmets, avoid rash driving, and refrain from performing bike stunts that could disturb the environment.
Additionally, mosque presidents and secretaries urged everyone to avoid recording videos during the Qurbani (animal sacrifice) and to dispose of the remaining parts of the sacrificed animals by burying them properly in designated areas, ensuring no discomfort is caused to people of other faiths.
It is noteworthy that to monitor the law and order situation during the celebration, the District Commissioner appointed two executive magistrates with special responsibilities. People of Tamulpur thanked the district administration for such proactive measures. They also expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the Muslim community in ensuring a peaceful and harmonious celebration of Eid-Uz-Zuha in the district.
