'Experts Conclave' along with Exhibition organised at Kajalgaon

KOKRAJHAR: On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the country's independence and in connection with the celebration of Vanijjya Saptah, an 'Experts Conclave' along with Exhibition was organized by the Chirang District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC) in the conference hall of District Centre, Kajalgaon on Saturday.

The event was conducted by Bikram Kalita, General Manager, DICC, and was attended by Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Member for Industry department Reo Reoa Narjihary as chief guest, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah as the guest of honour and resource persons Dr Manjit Das, head of economics department of Bodoland University and Suvankar Baruah, North East India Export-Import Supplier.

In his speech, BTC EM Reo Reoa Narjihary said that our BTR region produces a large quantity of traditional handwoven clothes and other products in the state. "Therefore, the concerned agents of the region are urged to come forward and invest in the BTR area", he added.

On the role of BTC in the Export sector, Dr Manjit Das, head of economics department of Bodoland University said, "We need to know how to take our handwoven clothes and other locally made products of this region to the export stage, and what kind of specific regulations and strategies should be followed to export such products as per the market demand". The other resource person, Suvankar Baruah, Key person of North East India Export Import Supplier, Bongaigaon, also shared his views on how to export such products of small scale enterprises. Later, the guests present on the occasion paid a visit to the exhibition stall and after being seen the products displayed in the exhibition, they were overwhelmed and bought many items.
