KOKRAJHAR: In a significant step towards empowering working women and promoting gender-friendly infrastructure, the foundation stone of the ‘Sakhi Niwas,’ Working Women Hostel was laid on Monday at Dimalgaon in Kokrajhar district. The ceremony was graced by Gautam Das, EM, BTC, in-charge of Women and Child Development (WCD).

‘Sakhi Niwas’ aims to provide safe and affordable accommodation to working women from different sectors, leading to a secure environment that supports their professional aspirations and overall well-being. The event witnessed the presence of MLA Lawrence Islary, Director of WCD Gauri Shankar Sarma, Secretary of WCD, BTC Phami Brahma, and Joint Director-cum-CHD of WCD, BTC Samir Das.

The programme was also attended by officials of the Women and Child Development department including Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), supervisors, the District Poshan Abhiyaan and Mission Shakti team, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), and local residents.
