Dibrugarh: In a significant move towards taking governance closer to the people of Upper Assam and developing complementary administrative infrastructure, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stones for the Ministers' Office, a convention centre, and offices of the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary in Dibrugarh today.

The project, with a cost of Rs 65 crore, will come up adjacent to the existing Chief Minister's Secretariat at Paltan Bazar in Dibrugarh's Maijan area.

The CM said on the occasion that the initiative is part of the state government's broader vision to develop Dibrugarh as the state's second capital by expanding its administrative infrastructure. The proposed Ministers' Office will feature 20 office rooms along with 10 accommodation units. The convention centre will have a seating capacity of 350, while the adjoining conference hall will accommodate 120 people, he said.

Moreover, the office building of the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary will be a ground-plus-one-floor structure, equipped with officers' cabins, an establishment office room, a meeting room, a car porch, and other essential facilities. The Chief Minister also said that these measures are aimed at fostering people centric development in Upper Assam and ensuring greater administrative outreach to the people of the region.

Industries & Commerce Minister Bimal Bora, Medical Education & Research Minister Prasanta Phukan, Transport Minister Jogen Mohan, several MLAs, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
